A year ago Tottenham became the epicentre of chaos that spread across the entire UK. This exhibition will look at why and present creative and imaginative solutions to bring Happiness to Tottenham.

The 2011 riots spread from outside the police station on Tottenham High Street across the country.

Why was this? What is special about Tottenham that events there can affect the entire country? And is there something special about Tottenham's urban environment that leads to such unrest?

For the past year, architects Peter Morris and Dominic McKenzie together with students at Birmingham City University have been researching and making proposals for Tottenham.

On the first anniversary of the Tottenham 2011 riots, they will present their findings and proposals in an exhibition at the Bernie Grants Arts Centre, which is located at the very centre of Tottenham.

The core question of the research has been, ?How can we bring Happiness to Tottenham?'

What we'll do:

The exhibition will present the University-based research and imaginative proposals for improving Tottenham.

Why it's a great idea:

The 2011 riots had a devastating psychological and financial impact on the UK. Some studies have already been carried out in to socio-economic conditions in Tottenham, but none have considered the built environment in Tottenham and its effect on well-being.

How we'll get it done:

Architects Dominic McKenzie and Peter Morris with students from BCU will collaborate to mount the exhibition.

Funding will pay for the hire of the space, printing and advertising costs and materials for displaying the exhibition.

We are looking for a small amount of financial support in order to bring this exhibition to the Bernie Grant Art Centre in the very heart of Tottenham. The Centre is located less than a minute from where the rioting began a year before.

In the unlikely event that there are excess funds these will be spent on a small book which will be produced to coincide with the exhibition.
